I got the idea for Wilson's name some years ago when my son, Nelson, was around 10 years old. We were camping in upstate New York and he was playing with a couple of boys he met there, one about my son's age and his younger brother. The younger brother kept calling my son "Wilson" because of the logo sweatshirt he was wearing at the time.
His older brother got so mad everytime he did, and would yell, "His name's not Wilson, it's Nelson!"
It was a funny little episode that stayed with me and inspired the name for Wilson!
